Exotentreffen 6 September 2025
In short
We can look back on a successful edition last Saturday! The sun shone, the turnout was fantastic, the route was super scenic, and the BBQ was a blast!
Exotics Meeting Report 2025
The Exotics Meeting 2025 began on a glorious day, with the sun shining and the sky a clear blue. The first task of the morning was a thorough cleaning of Marloes' GTS1000, which absolutely had to shine for this special event. With a smile, but also a tear, we set off for the Zonnehuis for the very first Exotics Meeting without our beloved Johan Kole, the founder and dean of this wonderful meeting.
As always, we were welcomed to the picturesque grounds of the Zonnehuis, where we started the day by setting up the venue at "De Klusschuur." Around ten o'clock, the first motorcycle enthusiasts started arriving, and the area was soon filled with an impressive variety of exotic motorcycles. Every year, the Exotics Meeting remains a magnet for motorcyclists who want to show off their special machines.
This year, the event was made extra special by an excellent article by Onno Wieringa, which also allowed us to welcome two English motorcycle enthusiasts. One rode a Ducati MHe, the other a Morini 3½. Of course, our German and Belgian friends were also there, further emphasizing the international character of the event.
Among the motorcycles, we found some true rarities: two iconic six-cylinder bikes (the Honda CBX1000 and the Kawasaki Z1300), two Kawasaki Turbos, and even a unique custom Wankel engine in a Kawasaki frame. We were also surprised by the arrival of a Horex, a BFG car motorcycle, and a Laverda with a sidecar. Bob Hollander was also present with his special Yamaha XJ750D. In short, an unprecedented selection of exotic motorcycles that would make any motorcycle enthusiast's heart beat faster.
The motorcycles weren't the only highlights. Of course, there were also the famous prizes, which this year had been specially created by the residents of the Zonnehuis. After the awards ceremony, we set off on a scenic tour through the beautiful countryside towards Deroue Motoren in Nijkerkerveen, where we were treated to a currant bun and a delicious cup of coffee.
After the stop in Nijkerkerveen, we continued on to Spakenburg, where, coincidentally, the Fisheries Days were being celebrated. It was the perfect opportunity to stretch our legs and enjoy some delicious fish. The day concluded with a cozy barbecue in Michiel and Marloes's garden, where the atmosphere was as good as ever. As always, the barbecue was excellently prepared by the Exotentreffen team.
The entire day was dedicated to Johan. Although he was no longer physically with us, his presence always felt close. The event was exactly as he had envisioned: a day full of exotic motorcycles, passion, conviviality, and fun, in a relaxed atmosphere.
The 2025 Exotentreffen was therefore an event to remember. It was a day Johan would make proud, and we are grateful for everything he left behind for motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. Thank you, Johan!
